Hand consists of small bones of the fingers (phalanges) and the long bones (metacarpals). Any breakage in these bones is termed as hand fracture.
Cause: Twisting injury OR a fall OR a crush injury OR direct contact in sports.
Symptoms: Severe pain, tenderness and swelling over the hand, inability to move fingers, depressed knuckle, finger crosses over its neighbour when making a partial fist and deformity of the hand along with shortening of finger.
