Although pain can be severe but it definitely does not restrict the person from performing daily activities as the pain can be relieved by rest and appropriate treatment. Conservative management like applying ice packs, wearing a splint or strap to prevent pulling of the injured tendon, taking medications like NSAIDs, corticosteroid injections, injecting platelet rich plasma (PRP), physiotherapy etc. may provide relief to the patient. But in cases where these treatments fail to provide any relief to the patient, surgery is performed to remove the damaged tendon, improve blood flow to the area to aid healing and reattach the tendon to the bone.
Conservative treatment may give relief to the patient but if it fails to do so, elbow arthroscopy is performed to remove the damaged tendon and repair the remaining tendon.
